A: Fred called dibs on getting the site named after him, much to the dismay of Sceb.

Q: What is the point of the cartoons?

A: First and foremost the cartoons are there to bring some joy to the people all over Earth. Humor is an amazing and uplifting thing, and FredtheMonkey.com is just out to make the world a better place. Some cartoons have real messages behind them, also in an attempt to improve the globe as a whole. We're here to make our viewers happy, simple as that.

Q: Who is JKR?

A: JKR is the creator of FredtheMonkey.com, and of the now-complete comic Cubetoons. He is an animator that works in the awesome city of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, USA, full time on FredtheMonkey.com. And sometimes he writes fiction in his spare time, which he almost never actually has.

Q: What is the history of SC, Fred, Mr. D, yadda yadda yadda…?

A: For more details on the characters themselves, be sure to check out all the cartoons. A lot of their stories are found there. For more information, stop back in to see a dedicated Characters page coming to the website at a later time.

Q: Why do some cartoons look so different?

A: In 2010 for the seventh year anniversary of FredtheMonkey.com, JKR decided to upgrade pretty much everything about the website and cartoons, and changed the look of characters to bring them into a more dynamic and three dimensional scene. The cartoons remain and will continue to be 2D (JKR is a big, big fan of 2D animation) however the new, more 3D appearances help to move the characters around and make them feel more alive.

Q: If you “update every week”, how come sometimes there’s no new cartoon of Friday?

A: For seven years JKR fought to keep the website updated every week, most of the time with a new cartoon. After returning to animation school, he realized it was frankly impossible to create the level of animation and quality he wanted every week all by himself. So a new schedule for updates was created. Every month there is a "feature animation" released. During the other weeks in the month, smaller updates are put online to enjoy. It would be a dream come true to one day have a studio with many animators working on Fred updates, but until that day comes the cartoons need to be far enough apart to be animated by one person in a reasonable timeframe.

Q: I don’t like the new site design, why’d you have to ruin it?

A: Since the website launched in 2003, FredtheMonkey.com has gone through several major redesigns and relaunches. At this point, it's become the norm to see a new version launch every few years or so. Hopefully the current look grows on you and you enjoy it after a while, but if not don't worry. A new version is always right around the corner to keep things interesting.

Q: Can I link to your website from my site/blog/forum signature?

A: That would be great! Spreading the word about FredtheMonkey.com is one way to help support the site. At the bottom of the page you will find a small Fred icon which you're welcome to use anywhere you see fit to link to the website. We appreciate you spreading the word so more people can enjoy the toons!

Q: How long does it take to make each cartoon?

A: Each cartoon has a different amount of work attached, so there’s no simple answer. Mailbags, if there is no new artwork in them, take less time than full cartoons. Since the relaunch in 2010 and style upgrade, cartoons take even longer than ever to create. However these new cartoons also look better than ever, and have more real animation than any previous updates. We think it's worth the extra work!

Q: I sent Sceb an email, why didn’t he use it in the Mailbag?

A: Sceb gets a lot of email every week, and even if he gave up video games he probably couldn’t answer them all. So he picks a few and puts them into the Mailbag. Don’t be discouraged if your email doesn’t make it in, just try again with a new question later.

Q: I have a great idea for a Fred cartoon! Where should I send it?

A: If you have an idea or suggestion for a FredtheMonkey cartoon, or even just a general comment about the cartoons, head over to the contact page and share it! Though we may not use the idea directly, we try to read every story that comes along at the very least. Or if you’re up for giving art a shot, you can put together your own fan work of Fred and the crew, and share it online!
